Master of Public Health - Epidemiology

The MPH program in epidemiology trains students in the foundations of epidemiology, in preparation for public health careers in a variety of organizations and industries. Students are trained in epidemiologic study design, statistical analysis, and the biological principles underlying human diseases.  Students utilize their training to implement epidemiologic surveillance and research studies, providing evidence-based information to promote health and prevent disease and injuries.

Master of Science - Epidemiology

The Master of Science (MS) program in epidemiology provides graduate-level training in the causes, distribution, and control of disease in populations, with an emphasis on epidemiologic methods and training in human diseases in populations.  The degree provides training in the scientific foundations of epidemiology and prepares individuals to address complex public health issues.

Through developing sophisticated analytic and research skills, as well as an understanding of the environmental, social and ethical factors that contribute to health and wellness in the community, scientists trained in this program will be prepared for careers in epidemiologic research, and development and evaluation of new approaches to public health surveillance, risk assessment and epidemic investigation.

Doctor of Philosophy - Epidemiology

The PhD program in Epidemiology trains highly skilled individuals in epidemiologic research and its application to public health to prepare graduates for research and teaching careers in the health sciences.  

The curriculum provides training in epidemiologic methods for clinical, observational and community-based research including study design, statistical analysis, biological principles and disease etiology to meet the rigors of the scientific community. The program’s etiologic orientation is based on the premise that knowledge of genetic, behavioral, environmental, and physiologic factors contribute to understanding the underlying causes of complex human diseases needed to develop effective preventive measures.

Doctor of Public Health - Epidemiology

The DrPH Program in Epidemiology is designed to develop public health leaders who are skilled in identifying factors that affect the health of a population and developing the framework to guide interventions to improve public health.  Epidemiologic principles incorporate disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and study design and analysis, with underlying biologic principles that cause disease in human populations.  Epidemiologists may study communicable diseases as well chronic diseases, their causes and outcomes.  Graduates will be prepared to describe the scientific principals underlying a disease process and apply appropriate analytic skills to assess associations and proposed appropriate interventions.
