First Year-Fall Semester

• Format resume using Colorado School of Public Health resume template as a guideline
• Conduct 1 informational interview to explore a specific public health discipline or career path you may be interested in pursuing
• Develop and articulate “elevator pitch” to prepare you for networking and sharing your interests, skills, abilities, and knowledge
• Begin developing LinkedIn profile and become knowledgeable of features offered through LinkedIn.

• Become familiar with Colorado School of Public Health Career tab on CSPH website
• Attend career-related workshops offered through career services and your department (check with Colorado School of Public Health events calendar)

First Year-Spring Semester

• Complete Career Development Plan and begin to implement
• Conduct 2 informational interviews in areas of public health of potential interest for your practicum and      capstone
• Practice customizing a resume to a job description and including accomplishment statements
• Consider joining a public health professional association as a student member for career exploration, networking and professional development  The Colorado Environmental Health Association (CEHA) , The Colorado Public Health Association (CPHA), The Colorado Society for Public Health Education (COSOPHE)
• Attend career-related workshops offered through career services and your departments (check with Colorado School of Public Health events calendar)

 Summer Session

•  Volunteer, get involved in part-time public health work, professional committees, etc.

• Review behavioral interview questions and practice responding to questions with classmates, friends, etc.
• Conduct a mock/practice interview with a career staff or public health professional
• Attend events where you can network with public health professionals and practice your elevator pitch
• Begin job search using LinkedIn, and public health job search websites
• Attend career-related workshops offered through career services and your department (check with Colorado School of Public Health events calendar)

Second Year-Spring Semester

• Review Career Development Plan and revise as necessary
• Attend career-related workshops offered through career services and your department (check with Colorado School of Public Health events calendar)
• Continue job search and interviewing and meet with career services office to review strategy
• Meet with career services office to receive coaching for an upcoming interview or job offers
• Complete employment survey
