Professor

Research Interests
  • Longitudinal Data Analysis - Linear and Nonlinear Mixed Models
Current Research
  • NIH/NIDA: Center on Antisocial Drug Dependence: The Genetics of HIV Risk Behaviors (8/97 - 2/14, Co-Principal Investigator)
  • NIH/NIDA: Substance Dependent Adolescents: Imaging Risk-Taking (9/06 - 4/11, Co-Investigator and Statistician): The objective of this research is to better understand whether substances diminish the capacity to inhibit behavior by altering brain processing of risky decisions, or do pre-existing, anatomically-based variations of brain processing produce risk-taking propensities, or both.
  • NIH/NIDA: The Increasing Disparity in Illegal Drug Use Across Socioeconomic Strata (7/07 - 6/11, Co-Investigator, Statistician): The project will evaluate changes in the prevalence of illegal drugs over time and also changes in the characteristics of illegal drug users over time using a "Diffusion of Innovation" framework and will trace the extent to which the key predictors of illegal drug use have their roots in the early life course.
  • DHSS/SAMSHA/CSAT: Synergy Assertive Continuing Care: Using ACC/ACRA as an Aftercare Model (9/07 - 9/10, Biostatistician): This federally-funded grant will provide aftercare services utilizing the ACC/ACRA model to 144 substance-abusing youth leaving either residential or day treatment.
  • NIH/NIDA: Genetics of Adolescent Antisocial Drug Dependence (7/08 - 12/12, Co-Investigator, Statistician).
  • NIH/NCI: Psychoeducation for BMT Caregivers: Biobehavioral Markers and Outcome (4/08 - 3/13, Co-Investigator, Statistician).
