In order to mentor or teach graduate students or participate in student comprehensive or thesis defense committees, faculty must have a graduate faculty appointment. These pages provide information on the minimum standards required for obtaining an appointment, and include the definition of a special or regular appointment, as well as the procedure for requesting an appointment and the appropriate form.
Additionally, the Graduate Faculty Directory lists faculty who have current graduate faculty appointments in the Graduate School as well as appointment expiration dates. This list is intended to aid current students in choosing examination and dissertation advisory committees.
The Graduate School Directory allows students and faculty to determine whether or not a faculty member has a current graduate faculty appointment to serve on the student’s final, comprehensive, or dissertation committee.
