Jessica Cook is an NSF IGERT PhD Fellow in the department of Health and Behavioral Sciences. She has a BA in English - creative writing from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a BLA/MLA (landscape architecture) from Penn State University. Her broad research focus is on the link between the built environment and health/behavior. She has been involved in research projects exploring the relationship between neighborhood walkability, access to healthy food and parks, and health status of residents. She is currently developing her dissertation research, which will look at the social structure of the vulnerable communities practicing urban agriculture in India and their capacity to adapt to land use changes.
