Levin SlikerLevin Sliker, Ph.D.
Research Assistant Professor
Department of Bioengineering, College of Engineering and Applied Science

Dr. Sliker is an Assistant Research Professor with Assistive Technology Partners in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus since 2015. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering with a bioengineering emphasis from the University of Colorado Boulder (UCB) in 2010, 2012, and 2015, respectively. His dissertation research was focused on in vivo robotic capsule endoscope mobility to enable navigation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract for screening, diagnosis and therapy. His work was primarily experimental, but also involved empirical, analytical and finite element modeling. His research has resulted in the development of several robotic capsule endoscopes prototypes, 9 journal publications, 6 conference presentations and 2 patent applications. Dr. Sliker was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship during 2010-2013. He worked at the BioRobotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa, Italy as a Fulbright and Whitaker Fellow from 2013 to 2014. At the BioRobotics Institute, Dr. Sliker developed an analytical model for predicting the drag force necessary to move a capsule endoscope through the GI tract.

Dr. Sliker’s research interests at Assistive Technology Partners includes wheelchair biomechanics, socially assistive robotics, and cognitive technology for the disabled working population. His teaching interests include mechatronics, abnormal anatomy & physiology, and assistive technology for the disabled and aging population.

What I love about my job...

"As an engineer, it is a rare privilege to work alongside some of the best clinicians in the world who are dedicated to improving the lives of the clients we serve. Their knowledge and our ability to collaborate daily is crucial to the successful development of new technologies.
