Material Properties Lab

Students test a variety of samples for mechanical properties such as modulus, tensile strength, and impact strength in the Material Properties Laboratory. Materials tested include metals, steel, aluminum and polymer composites.

We use a screw-driven tensile tester and pendulum impact testers, hardness testers and composite vacuum forming equipment.

For information about the Material Properties Laboratory, contact Associate Professor Ron Rorrer: 303-556-2553 or ronald.rorrer@ucdenver.edu. Or, check out his research page.

Courses related to the Material Properties Laboratory include:

  • MECH 3043 Mechanics of Materials
  • MECH 3035 Design of Mechanical Elements
