Benefits of attending CLAS

Urban Campus

Denver does not just have something for everyone. It has a lot for everyone: A lot to do outdoors, a lot of culture, a lot of diversity and a lot of spirit. It is one of the youngest and healthiest metro areas in the country, with a resilient business climate that is poised to grow with the new energy economy.

Two campuses, one university

Our students are literally in the real world every day. UC Denver's Downtown Campus holds classes on the Auraria Campus (shared with two other colleges) and in high-rise buildings along Lawrence Street in Denver's Theater District. Students in the health professions learn and practice in state-of-the-art facilities at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, including brand-new hospitals: University of Colorado Hospital and The Children's Hospital.

Living and learning in Colorado

Some students live in student housing on the Downtown Campus, while most live in one of many, leafy metro-area neighborhoods. A laid-back Western ambiance prevails. Commutes are made easy by an extensive network of bicycle trails and an ever-expanding light rail and bus system.

Colorado skiing is world-renowned, but most newcomers are surprised by the mild winters on the plains. In a "good" winter, the snow falls plentifully in the mountains and occasionally blankets the metro area. With more than 300 days of sunshine, city snows don't stick around for long.

Diverse cultural events and experiences keep things lively: From the venerable National Western Stock Show and Rodeo to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival; from the Denver Broncos to the Daniel Libeskind-designed addition to the Denver Art Museum; from the nation's largest Cinco de Mayo celebration to the annual Denver Film Festival.
