Awards & Recognition - College and Campus Faculty Awards


Faculty Excellence Awards
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the University of Colorado Denver provide numerous opportunities to recognize the exceptional achievements of our tenured, tenure-track and instructional faculty and our departments.

Each spring faculty and administrators nominate deserving candidates for the following awards:

  1. Excellence in Teaching - tenured/tenure-track faculty
  2. Excellence in Teaching - non-tenure-track faculty
  3. Excellence in Research and Creative Activities - tenured/tenure-track faculty
  4. Excellence in Service - tenured/tenure-track faculty

CLAS recognizes up to three winners in each category. These CLAS recipients are then nominated for the campus-level award. Applications are due in the CLAS Dean’s office February 14, 2013.

Outstanding Faculty Achievement Award
A generous gift has endowed an award to recognize and reward truly exceptional contributions in teaching, research and service by a tenured faculty member in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. An initial letter of nomination is due to the CLAS Dean’s Office February 14, 2013.

University of Colorado Denver Awards and Recognition

Faculty Excellence Awards
The University of Colorado Denver selects one faculty winner in each of the following categories:

  1. Excellence in Teaching - tenured/tenure-track faculty
  2. Excellence in Teaching - non-tenure-track faculty
  3. Excellence in Research and Creative Activities - tenured/tenure-track faculty
  4. Excellence in Service - tenured/tenure-track faculty

Nominees for this award are made from the award winners at the college level as noted above.

UC Denver Provost's Award for Excellence in Practices Related to Non-Tenure Track Faculty
Established in 2010, the Provost's Award for Excellence in Practices Related to Non-Tenure-Track Faculty is awarded to an academic unit for demonstrated excellence in practices regarding non-tenure-track faculty that supports the mission of UC Denver Downtown Campus. Applications are due to Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Office by March 18, 2013.

UC Denver Downtown Campus Annual Award for Outstanding Faculty Mentoring
This Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award was created in 2011 through the generosity of Drs. Lennie and Bob Damrauer. By establishing this award, they wish to recognize the process by which faculty serve as role models for each other, promote the professional development of others and create a supportive, positive working environment. This award is a visible way of formally recognizing a faculty member for providing exceptional mentoring on the UC Denver downtown campus. Applications are due in the Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs Office by March 18, 2013.

University of Colorado Awards and Recognition

President's Teaching Scholars Program
The program is designed to honor and reward faculty who have excelled in teaching, scholarship, and research and to endorse teaching excellence throughout the university.
President's Diversity Award
This annual award recognizes the contributions of faculty, staff, students, administrators, and academic or administrative units whose service contributes to the development of a more culturally diverse and inclusive university community.
Elizabeth Gee Memorial Lectureship Award
The Gee Award is the only award in the CU system dedicated to recognizing the work of outstanding women faculty.
Thomas Jefferson Award
The special significance of the award is its integration of excellence in performance of regular responsibilities with outstanding service to the broader community.
