Inclusion & Climate
The University of Colorado Denver Philosophy Department actively supports a professional climate that treats every member of our community with respect and makes each person feel safe and welcome. At the same time, we want to create a climate in which we can critically discuss ideas. We do not see a conflict between these two goals; rather, we think we do our best critical thinking in a mutually respectful environment. To that end, we seek to identify individual needs and provide important resources for resolving any climate issues that may arise, particularly for women and underrepresented groups among our students, faculty, or staff. Further, as a community, we seek to broaden our understandings of what a professional climate entails to include, for example, the identification and mitigation of implicit bias and stereotype threat. Our goal is to build a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment for all of our students, faculty, and staff.
