Assistant Research Professor in Applied
Mathematics

The University of Colorado Denver invites
applications for a two-year Assistant Research Professor appointment in the
Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences starting in January 2013,
subject to final budgetary approval.
Minimum
qualifications for the position include a doctoral degree in the mathematical
sciences or a related area; an
excellent research portfolio; and a commitment to quality teaching at both undergraduate
and graduate levels. Preference will be given to candidates whose research
interests overlap with current faculty and who are qualified to teach graduate
courses in optimization.
The successful candidate will be
expected to teach two classes per semester, work with graduate students on
research projects, develop original research under the mentorship of current
faculty, and participate actively in the life of the department. The annual salary for this position is $55K. The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package. Information on University benefits programs,

The Department of Mathematical and
Statistical Sciences currently has 18 tenured or tenure-track faculty whose
research and teaching cover a wide range of areas, including optimization and
operations research; graph theory, finite geometry, and combinatorics; computational
and engineering mathematics; computational biology; math education; probability
and statistics. The Department has
approximately 45 Ph.D. students, 25 M.S. students, and 100 undergraduate
mathematics majors.
