Areas of Study

Interdisciplinary Programs

History has much to offer many areas of study. For that reason, our faculty contribute expertise and teach courses in a variety of interdisciplinary programs.

Historic Preservation

In conjunction with the College of Architecture and Planning, our department offers an 18-credit-hour graduate certificate in historic preservation.

International Studies

This interdisciplinary liberal arts degree is designed to offer students a thorough education in international issues while preparing them for global careers.

Women's & Gender Studies

Women’s and Gender Studies (WGST) is an interdisciplinary program offered either as an undergraduate minor or a graduate certificate through the Master of Humanities and Master of Social Sciences.

Graduate Interdisciplinary Studies

The Master of Humanities and the Master of Social Science degrees combine fields such as history, philosophy, cultural studies, film, women's studies, public policy, American studies, fine arts, sociology, literature, anthropology, communications, political science and economics.
