ECON 4030-5030: DATA ANALYSIS WITH SAS


    Learn data analysis with SAS and prepare to take the SAS Certification exam on 12 Saturdays!

    The objective of this course is to familiarize students with the vocabulary and techniques for data management and analysis using SAS and to prepare students to take the basic SAS certification examination. The class time consist largely of demonstrations and hands-on participation in the computer lab.

    The course will meet at the University of Colorado Denver’s downtown campus on the following 12 Saturdays: 1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/18, 2/25, 3/3, 3/10, 3/31, 4/7, 4/14, 4/28, 5/5.  Each class is three hours and 45 minutes, starting at 10:30am and ending at 3:15pm. There will be a 1 hour lunch break.

     

    Course Highlights:

    • No prior SAS or programming experience required.

    • Students take the SAS Base Programmer Certification exam at a reduced price and have it count as the final exam for the course.

    • Earn undergraduate or graduate level college credits.

    • Enhance your resume by earning your SAS Certified Base Programmer credential.

     

The required software is SAS.  Working knowledge of Excel is also required.  SAS and Excel are available in the Economics Department's computer room (LSW 460H) and in the Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSS) computer lab (NC 2028), where the class will be held. Students may purchase SAS for installation and use on their personal computers. The license for SAS is valid for one year.

There is a three step process when registering for ECON 4030/5030 Data Analysis with SAS:

    1. Complete this form which notifies the Economics Department of your interest in taking the course.
    2. Upon review, you will be given a permission number which allows you to register for the course.
    3. Register using the available options;

               (a) UCD Students - Register for the course using UCD Access. The SAS course

                    will be listed under extended studies.

               (b) Continuing Professional Development - Apply Now

                         Do not apply for nondegree admission.
