Steve Charbonneau is the Executive Director of Community Mediation Concepts, a Colorado nonprofit which specializes in conflict resolution, mediation, and facilitation. He has provided leadership for CMC for the past sixteen years. Steve is actively involved conducting mediations and facilitations, skill development for CMC mediators and utilizing the many aspects of practical and effective conflict resolution.
Steve regularly leads large and small groups through the process of discussing their strengths, challenges, issues, concerns, desires, and goals in an open, honest and respectful manner. In doing this, he is able to help them identify interests and issues relevant to their desired outcomes. Together they move into a constructive and collaborative conversation around ideas, options and possible solutions. In the end, those who are involved and most knowledgeable will reach specific expectations and measurable outcomes leading to success.
As Executive Director of CMC Steve currently works with leadership and staff management which:
- Provides conflict resolution, facilitation and mediation contracts with the City of Denver. CMC mediates neighbor-to-neighbor conflicts, employment and workgroup issues, infill and land-use issues, taskforce facilitations, large group and neighborhood processes. We manage over 350 cases referred from Denver. When parties agree to come to the table, we’re successful over 90% of the time.
- Operates community-officer complaint mediation program in Denver, Aurora, Douglas County, Colorado Springs and Boulder County. We are national leaders in this specialized type of complaint resolution.
- Conflict resolution for the State of Colorado, Department of Public Health and Environment, Department of Human Services, and the Colorado Department of Transportation.
- Group process, facilitation, mediation, workgroup conflict resolution for within Centura Health.
