Bio

Dr. Liu joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Colorado Denver in August 2009. His current research interests include chemical aging of atmospheric aerosols and its effects on their physiochemical and radiative properties; air pollution problem in indoor environmental especially interfacial ozone chemistry and its adverse health impact; and carbon capture and storage.

Dr. Liu was originally from Shanghai, China. He attended Fudan University in China with a major in Applied Chemistry. He did research in environmental catalysis and received a master degree in Environmental Science from the same institute. Later he came to the Unite States to pursue his PhD degree. During his graduate study at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, his research focused on experimental and theoretical studies of aqueous and gaseous free radical reactions of atmospheric importance. In addition, he participated in environmental catalysis and green chemistry projects. Before joining UC Denver, Dr. Liu completed his postdoctoral research in development of novel approaches for heterogeneous aerosol chemistry study and chemical transformation of atmospheric organic matter at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory with Dr. Alexander Laskin and the University of California San Diego with Dr. Mario Molina.
