In your audition you must demonstrate the following:
- Jazz swing groove
- Rock groove
- Funk groove and Afro Cuban
- Several Latin grooves including bossa nova, samba, mambo
- Jazz waltz
- Several styles with brushes
Repertoire
Prepare one piece to perform such as "Portraits in Rhythm" by Anthony Cirone. Snare drum is preferred for the audition.
Sight Reading
Sight reading will be assessed during the audition.

While students are encouraged to perform "live" auditions, this is not always possible for out-of-state students. Out-of-state students who cannot attend a live audition may submit a recorded audition. Recorded auditions must contain the type of repertoire listed above and be five to ten minutes in length. Recordings will not be returned. Please contact Todd Reid for further details.

Minors
The MEIS Department no longer accepts General Musicianship minors.
