Music Performance classes offer a unique education in current styles, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technology. Students can select a variety of specialized courses including small performance ensembles, lessons, theory, counterpoint, concert music, contemporary improvisation and analysis, and music history and literature.
The College of Arts & Media also offers students a variety of ways to gain work experience in musical performance. You will have many opportunities for creative work including:
- Small ensembles: Performing and competing locally, nationally, and internationally, our musical ensembles perform on campus and at community functions, as well as travel throughout the country and the world.

The Bachelor of Science in Music Degree
Students pursuing careers in Music Performance receive a Bachelor of Science in Music from the Department of Music & Entertainment Industry Studies in the College of Arts & Media, a degree awarded by the University of Colorado Denver.
This degree is designed for students who are interested in professional careers in music, including music composition and performance, recording, business, and entertainment. Students can select classes that lead to local, regional, and national careers in audio research, production companies, art administration, and audio engineering—to name just a few. This four-year program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. All applicants for a Bachelor of Science in Music degree must pass an entrance audition before being accepted (except for those focusing on Music Industry Studies Tracks in Music Business or Recording Arts).

A student wishing to study in the Music Performance program must be admitted as both a student of the University of Colorado Denver and as a student of the College of Arts & Media. Admission into the College of Arts & Media is selective and based on several factors including previous academic records, standardized test scores, and audition performance.
