Students in Architecture Lecturer Bill Moore’s Advanced Design Studio are designing and building an extension to the existing Community Athletic Sports Academy at Sixth Avenue and Sheridan Street in Lakewood, Colorado. Children of C.A.S.A. will get the chance to play out their dreams of being soccer stars in a coliseum-like setting.

C.A.S.A. began operating in their current location in 2008 thanks to the generosity of Dennis Witte of Omni Development. Fast forward to Spring 2011 where master’s degree candidates are combining their talents to procure materials and funds leading up to the project’s May groundbreaking. The project will unite the existing C.A.S.A. building with an outdoor turf soccer field combining seating and shade for spectators with a reorganization of the previous concession stand. Players on the to-be expanded field will have the feeling that the match is taking place in a contemporary stadium.

The project gives the children of C.A.S.A. an opportunity to live a dream while pursuing goals that C.A.S.A. leaders teach them to set. For more information on C.A.S.A. and the new design, go to the Casasport website. Those interested in donating building materials, services, and/or funds for the project should contact: Bill Moore, 720-436-5713, email: BMoore@SprocketDB.com.
