The Center for Innovation and Creativity (CINC) has 7,000 square feet devoted to machining and material processing. It boasts:
- a state-of-the-art, 2000-square-foot Wood Lab
- a Metal Lab,
- two 75-watt Laser Cutting machines and a Z Corp 3-D Printer, two Digitizers
- two 3-Axis CNC routers, one large format with a 12” Z axis and a second smaller format with a 6” Z axis
A mandatory “Basic Safety Orientation,” conducted only at the beginning of the semester, is required for all students. Once attended, access to the facilities and all of its other training and resources will be at your disposal. This course is an introduction to the college’s safety policies as well as the proper use of personal safety equipment and safe practices on the smaller shop machines. You may then attend “Tool Seminars,” conducted at the beginning of each semester, to instruct you in the proper use of the larger floor mounted machinery as well as handheld power tools. The intention of these seminars is to familiarize you with each machine available in the shop’s inventory and conceptual basis of their use.

Hours
CINC is open seven days a week. The Wood Lab is open to students from 8:00am to 10:00pm Monday through Sunday and is supervised by a highly skilled full-time staff employee as well as student employees. This staff manager conducts all the required training for this facility and is available to students Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. The expertise of the lab manager and employees is there to help you in creating the designs you envision.
Access to the Laser Cutters, 3-D Printer and CNC machines are by appointment and prior approval of the Lab Coordinator, Paul Schroder, and/or the Lab Manager, Allen Harlow.
