SIEGMUND LANGEGGER (May 2012)
Bachelor of Science, Business Administration (University of Denver)
Research interests: Rooted in critical geography, my research interests center at once in small scale neighborhood change and spatial justice. Broadly construed, I am interested in understanding how residents appropriate marginal spaces—urban splinters such as vacant lots, alleys and abandoned buildings—within economically challenged neighborhoods in efforts to foster community cohesion and work toward economic resilience. Moreover, I aim to gain insight into the various legal and zoning code structures that work to either facilitate or frustrate these emergent processes of community building and small scale economic development.
