The University of Colorado Denver Master of Urban and Regional Planning Program seeks applicants who have demonstrated academic excellence. It is just as important to us, however, to have applicants who are passionate about urban and regional planning, bring a unique perspective, and who will enrich the program through their active engagement.
Our Preferred Applicants:
Required Elements of the MURP Program Application:
- your interest in the MURP Program
- the planning topics or areas of interest about which you are particularly passionate
- your special strengths and the aspects of your values/personal beliefs, background, and/or
experiences that you believe will enable you to make a unique contribution to the MURP
- how the MURP Program will further your career plans and the contributions you hope to
make after graduation
A sample of your academic writing, approximately 3-5 pages (double-spaced) long. The paper should demonstrate your writing skills as well as your ability for critical analysis. (A professional project you individually completed may be submitted instead of an academic paper. However, like the paper, this project should demonstrate your abilities in intellectual writing and analytic thought). Include a note explaining why you selected the particular paper or project for submission.
Applications to the MURP program are submitted through the College of Architecture and Planning. Learn about the process and FAQs here. For additional questions about the admissions process, please contact Rachael Thompson, Coordinator of Student Recruitment and Enrollment.
Information about current tuition rates and fees is available here. The MURP program is part of WICHE-WRGP, which enables students who are residents of any of the 15 member states pay only Colorado resident tuition. Read here for more information. Students who are residents of non-WICHE states can qualify for resident tuition after one year of Colorado residency.
