Maintaining the Unique Character of Neighborhoods

Many communities are striving to preserve and enhance the character and quality of life in their established residential neighborhoods. The unique character of a home or neighborhood can be maintained with the appropriate design decisions. CCCD works with neighborhoods and preservation organizations to provide examples of architectural designs that can open up interior space or add square footage while keeping with the architectural style of the home.

Pattern books provide neighborhoods with a tool that supports neighborhood revitalization and preservation. Good design is a vital component to the successful stewardship of a community’s unique cultural resources and enhancement of community distinctiveness.
