The course will be held entirely in Spanish and will focus on three areas: Medical and clinical vocabulary and conversation, anatomy, and a study of health systems/medical history in developed nations.
Tuition covers three meals daily while in Granada, lodging with a host family, excursions to the Alhambra, the Parque Tecnológico Campus de Ciencias de la Salud (the Health Sciences Technological Center- a leading European Health Sciences research center), and an olive oil producer for an authentic taste of the Mediterranean. The last three nights of the program will be spent in Madrid with a visit to at least one major museum with many additional possibilities at student expense. Class time will be 4 hours a day, Monday through Thursday plus a few one-hour afternoon conversation sessions during the 3-week Maymester.
The course is designed to provide an immersion experience both in class for academic work as well as in the students' free time to converse with the host family and to experience everyday life in the spectacular city of Granada. There will be structured excursions, but students will also have free time most evenings and on the weekends.
