ESL Academy Placement & Promotion
At the time of application, some students who currently live in Denver will be invited to the ESL Academy to take a placement exam. Some students who live outside of Denver will be invited to interview with the Director using Skype. Pretesting allows for ESL Academy staff to determine if a seat is available for the term in which the prospective student wants to enroll.
Most students take the complete placement test during the orientation program prior to the start of classes and are placed in an appropriate level according to the results. At the end of each 8-week term, students take final exams in each skill area. Promotion to the next level is based on a combination of three factors: grades, teacher recommendations, and test scores.
