ESL Academy Curriculum
The ESL Academy curriculum is designed to prepare international students to study at American universities. The approach is rigorous. Full-time students are in classes 3-5 hours a day (23 hours per week) and are assigned several hours of homework each day.
Five levels of instruction are offered: High Beginner, Low Intermediate, Intermediate, High Intermediate, and Advanced, with each level requiring an 8-week term to complete.
In addition, effective Spring I 2014, the ESL Academy will offer a Basic level that is designed for students who are not quite ready to go into the High Beginning level. The Basic level curriculum will prepare students to transition successfully into the High Beginning level at the end of the 8-week Basic level.
Students in all levels are required to take required Core Courses. Core Courses include Listening/Speaking, Reading/Writing, and Grammar.
