University of Colorado Denver

Important: the ESL Academy does not accept beginners. There are no beginner classes. If you are a beginner, please apply later, when you have at least four months of learning English.

Be prepared to upload a digital copy of your passport and transcripts with the application form. If you are a transfer student (if you are an F-1 student in the US right now), also upload a digital copy of your I-20 and health insurance card.

If you live in Denver, you will be invited to take a Placement test. The ESL Coordinator will invite you to take this test in an email.

If you live outside of Denver, you will be invited to a Skype interview. The interview will last about 10 minutes. The ESL Coordinator will schedule that interview with you.

If you receive an acceptance letter from the ESL Academy, you will be required to register your acceptance. Instructions for how to register will be included in the acceptance email. In addition, you will be required to submit a financial guarantee letter or bank statement along with the Certification of Financial Resources form. Additional instructions will be included in the acceptance email.

Following the completion of these steps, the ESL Academy will transfer your file to the International Student & Scholar Services unit for review. They will then issue your I-20.

Admission to the ESL Academy does not guarantee you admission to any academic program at the University of Colorado Denver. You must apply separately to an Undergraduate or Graduate program.

A separate application must be submitted to apply to an academic program at the University of Colorado Denver. Students who successfully complete the ESL Academy may waive the TOEFL/IELTS requirement. For more information on admission to a degree seeking program please visit International Admissions
