The university automatically suspends student travel to countries or regions with State Department “warnings,” and may restrict travel to areas with “advisories.” Faculty and staff members should check with the Office of Global Education before recommending or taking students to effected countries. Faculty members planning to lead a group to a country with a travel suspension may appeal the suspension in writing to the International Risk Management Committee. Individual students traveling to a country with a travel suspension may also appeal.

Global Education strongly recommends that all international travelers take out a supplemental international medical insurance policy. The university uses HTH for university administered study abroad programs. Faculty, staff and students may also be eligible. Denver has several fine international travel clinics who can evaluate and make recommendations specific to the country or region you will visit. If you need to bring prescriptions, make sure you have a current copy from your physician. Also, International SOS and other International Health insurance providers have prescription translations and formularies because brand names often differ. Before departing, check with International SOS or your International Health Insurance provider for a list of Western-trained, English speaking physicians and clinics at your destination.
