CU Denver’s Office of Global Education (OGE) offers students countless opportunities to study abroad. Students can earn CU Denver credit participating in CU Denver faculty-led programs. You can experience another part of the world, learn about a new culture, even attempt another language while earning UC Denver credit! And in many cases, studying abroad may be cheaper than CU Denver tuition! The Office of Global Education is here to help you link an experience abroad with your CU Denver degree program.
Are grants and scholarships available for study and/or research abroad? Yes. There are scholarship opportunities for international study abroad students! A student must have been enrolled in a full course of study in the United States for at least one full academic term prior to participating in a study abroad program.
While abroad, the student must remain registered at CU Denver and continue to pursue a full course of study while abroad.
For students who study abroad for a full semester or academic year, International Student and Scholar Services will make a note in your I-20 indicating that you are pursuing a full course of study while engaging in an authorized study abroad program.
Prior to applying for a study abroad program, international students must meet with a Study Abroad Advisor as well as an International Student Advisor for approval and necessary signatures.
Students in their final semester must discuss their plan with their International Student Advisor and Global Education for final approval.
Attend a Study Abroad Information Session to learn about all of your options and the steps to Study Abroad.
Research and find your ideal program by searching our website or meet with a Study Abroad Advisor.
Attend a Study Abroad Fair that is held during the Fall and Spring semester. Check out our website for more information.
Meet individually with a Study Abroad Coordinator to better understand the process.
Discuss your plans with your International Student Advisor to ensure that your study abroad plans fit with your academic plan at CU Denver.
Notify your study abroad coordinator and complete the requirements after being accepted into a study abroad program.
Meet with your International Student advisor to discuss your acceptance and get all necessary signatures on your travel documents.
Attend a mandatory pre-departure orientation.
This is the best, cheapest, and easiest way for International Students to Study Abroad!
Global Study programs are CU Denver faculty led course in foreign countries that typically take place during Maymester and Summer semesters.
They are generally cheaper than tuition costs at CU Denver so you can save money and still earn CU Denver credit.
Global study programs take place in places such as: Rome, Venice, Denmark, Norway, London, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Tanzania, Thailand, China, West Indies, Turkey, and England. *please note that this can change each year.
CU Denver professors teach your overseas courses, are there for support and they are all knowledgeable in the area you will be going.
Housing is included in Global Study program costs, however, food and airfare expenses are usually additional.
