A Ph.D. in Communication from the
University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, Dr. Karudapuram holds a joint
appointment as an associate professor in the Departments of Journalism and
Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Earlier, she held temporary faculty
appointments at DePaul University and the University of Texas - Austin. Author of two books: one, on identity in an
Asian Women’s shelter; the other, on remembering colonial India, she has
published numerous papers in professional journals and conference proceedings
on an impressive variety of scholarly themes, such as gender and communication, Asian immigrant women, communication
theory, and so on. And has served on a
number of editorial boards of well-known communication journals.
