Nearing completion of her Ph.D. in composition and Teaching
English as a Second Language (TESOL) at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Ms.
Matthews has served in a variety of related professional and academic positions
across Pennsylvania and Michigan, where she earned her M. ED/TESOL (Grand
Valley State University) and B.A. in Communications (University of
Michigan). And is an active presenter
and facilitator at writing- and TESOL-related seminars and conferences, having
published as well a number of articles in these same areas. Proficient in French, she has lived or worked
abroad extensively, including stints in the People’s Republic of the Congo,
South and West Africa, Mali, India, France, and China.
