Dr. Black is professor of accountancy, Brigham Young University. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in international accounting and financial accounting. His research is primarily in the financial accounting and international accounting areas, with emphasis on examining the usefulness of firm financial characteristics in different settings.  Journals in which his research has appeared include the Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and Journal of International Financial Management and Accounting.  He is an associate editor of the Journal of International Accounting Research. Prior to joining academia, he worked for seven years in private industry as a financial analyst and corporate treasurer. Dr. Black holds a PhD from the University of Washington, an MS in business from Brigham Young University, and a BA in international relations, also from BYU.
