A course is considered "online" when all course instruction and information is available at a distance.
Campus orientation sessions for individual online courses, when available, are optional.
What time does my online class meet?
Unless the instructor has designated a login time for a live chat session or telephone conference, your courses are asynchronous, which means you may login at any time during the day or night.
What are the advantages over on campus courses
Will I be able to travel while taking my online course?
Yes, you may log on from anywhere in the world; however an ISP (Internet Service Provider), a dial-up connection, and computer are required.
A "hybrid" course utilizes the on campus facilities as well as the online platform. Basically this means that a portion of the instruction that would otherwise be conducted in an actual classroom/laboratory is substituted with instruction via the Web, CD-Rom, etc.
When does my hybrid course meet on campus?
Hybrid courses have varying campus meeting dates so it is integral that you attend the first campus meeting to receive the schedule. If you miss the first campus meeting, the instructor should be contacted via email or telephone immediately.
A "technology supplemented" course uses technology delivered instruction and materials (threaded discussions, Word docs, PDFs, etc) to supplement classroom/lab instruction, but they do not substitute for, or reduce, the amount of time on campus.
The University of Colorado Denver offers fully accredited online degrees and online courses where the recognition and prestige are the same, the credit and education are the same, even the professors are the same. The only difference is that it's online & on your terms.
