Blackboard enables you to communicate with your instructor and peers through Chat, Email, and Messages.
Chat
Your instructor can setup Chatrooms for your course in Blackboard.
Email
You can email your instructor from your campus email address to their campus email address from within Blackboard. This enables you to send emails without having to login to webmail. To receive them, though, you will need to use webmail.
Messages
You can send messages that stay within Blackboard.
