Program Requirements​

The Doctor of Education, Leadership for Educational Equity (EdD) requires 54 credit-hour program comprised of courses in:

  • Equity and Diversity (2 courses - 6 credits)
  • Leadership and Learning (4 courses - 12 credits)
  • Specific concentration areas (4 courses - 12 credits)

You'll also complete a comprehensive exam and a thematic dissertation (5 courses - 15 credits).

Cohort Model

The EdD program is designed as a cohort model, so you will join and follow your cohort in taking the prescribed coursework. 

The cohort model is designed to create a social network among candidates and facilitate the connection between theory and practice across a variety of professional contexts.

CU Denver's rigorous ​hybrid EdD program works best for those who live in Colorado. It requires time on campus throughout the program as well as online.​
