Session Descriptions

Intro to Canvas: You’ve heard about the new learning management system coming to UCD, now is your chance to take a guided tour. This session will cover the basic features of Canvas and leave plenty of time to answer your questions about the upgrade to this new tool.

Our favorite Canvas Features:  Is one learning management system pretty much the same as another? It turns out that Canvas approaches the LMS market with some refreshing new ideas. Come see the CU Online team demo some of the coolest features that Canvas has to offer. This is a great session to follow up the Intro to Canvas with a more in-depth look at the tool.

LTI: Integrating the Web into Canvas: The Learning Tool Integration standard makes adding new tools to Canvas a snap. Learn more about LTI, see some of the more popular LTI integrations in action and learn how to add LTI tool to your Canvas course.

The Bottom Line on MOOCs: In the world of educational hype, nothing has more attention recently than MOOCs--massively open online courses. This session will bring you up to speed on the MOOC phenomenon, point you to resources to experience the world of MOOCs for yourself and consider the future of the MOOC as it relates to higher ed.

Writing Across the Curriculum: Writing is a fundamental skill. Moving beyond the English department, writing education is moving into all manner of courses across all disciplines and levels. Learn more how you can teach, coach and assess writing in your courses.
