Farah Ibrahim: Presents at College Counseling in a Multicultural World Conference

8/8/2014
Farah Ibrahim, PhD, professor, Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education, School of Education & Human Development, was the main presenter at the College Counseling in a Multicultural World Conference held at Texas A&M University in June.

The conference is for professional counselors and psychologists who want to gain expertise in counseling South Asian domestic and international students: insights, theories, interventions, ethical issues and competencies.

Organizers invite speakers who are leaders in cross-cultural/multicultural counseling. Ibrahim is a leader in the area of cultural issues in counseling and psychotherapy, and has developed several instruments, including the “Scale to Assess World View©” and curricula for four major universities to enhance cultural competence, responsiveness and social justice in counseling and psychotherapy.

“This was a huge honor, and it is humbling,” Ibrahim said.

Additionally, Ibrahim and co-author Jianna Heuer are under contract for a text on "Social Justice and Cultural Responsiveness: Using Cultural Assessments for Cultural Specificity.”
