Graduate Programs Top 2010 U.S. News and World Report Rankings


 

DENVER (May 5, 2009) – The University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus and Downtown Campus graduate schools rank among the nations best according to the U.S. News and World Report. The national magazine released its 2010 graduate school rankings April 30.

A number of graduate programs at UC Denver made the top 50 list in their area of emphasis. Seven UC Denver graduate programs are among the country’s Top 10.

• Biological Sciences: No. 48
• College of Nursing, Master’s program: No. 15
Nursing specialties:
Clinical nurse specialist: No. 6
Adult nurse practitioner: No. 8
Family nurse practitioner: No. 5
Pediatric nurse practitioner: No. 3
• Public Affairs: No. 32
• School of Medicine, Research: No. 29
Medical specialties:
Primary Care: No. 4
Family Medicine: No. 3
Pediatrics: No. 8

There were some changes this year as the School of Medicine, Research moved down two spots from number 27 to number 29, while Family Medicine moved up three spots from number 6 to number 3. The magazine surveyed 146 medical schools for this year’s list.

The annual rankings are based on expert opinion about program quality, or a combination of expert opinion and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students. The magazine assessed more than 1,200 programs nationwide and surveyed some 11,000 academic and professional experts in fall 2008.

All of the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings are available on the magazine’s Web site, www.usnews.com, and will appear in print in the May edition of U.S. News & World Report, which hit newsstands on April 28.
