DENVER - Michael Del Giudice, a planner with a wealth of experience in university campus and health care facilities planning, has been hired as Chief Planning Officer for the university.

Del Giudice, ASLA, AICP, AIA, started March 1, serving as a senior member of Provost Rod Nairn's staff at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus. He replaces Jerry Scezney, who retired last year.

Provost Nairn said he would particularly like to thank Brad Silsby, senior institutional planner, for serving as chief planning officer in the interim, and David Turnquist, Associate Vice Chancellor, Facilities Management, Search Committee Chair and all the search committee members.

Del Giudice has practiced institutional, urban and community planning and design for more than 17 years. He has directed a wide variety of projects, including numerous college and university campus master plans, research and development campus plans, health care facilities, urban and new community design plans, transportation facilities and corporate projects.

"A planner with Michael's blend of experience in university, health care and urban facilities is a rare find," said Nairn. "His expertise, experience and vision will serve us well as the university extends its footprint into downtown Denver and the Anschutz Medical Campus continues to grow into one of the world's pre-eminent healthcare cities."

Del Giudice has been a senior executive at AECOM, a leading international architecture firm, since 2008. Most recently, he served as AECOM's Associate Principal/Director of Campus Planning. He worked at the Philadelphia-based architecture firm Wallace Roberts & Todd from 1994 to 2008.

Del Giudice earned a Master of Landscape Architecture at the University of Georgia in 1992 and Bachelor of Fine Arts at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1978, graduating with honors at both institutions. He has been a member of the Society of College and University Planners since 2003 and the American Society of Landscape Architects since 1989.
