DENVER and AURORA, Colo. - Staff Council is looking for motivated, articulate and dedicated classified staff leaders to serve. The nomination process is now underway
for individuals to represent each campus.
is a group of employees who are elected by peers to represent employee views to the Chancellor of the University of Colorado Denver l Anschutz Medical Campus, Board of Regents, President of the University, Administrative Officers, and the State Personnel Board.
Regular Staff Council meetings are open and held on the second Tuesday of the month, from 1-3 p.m. "All staff are welcome and encouraged to attend," said Makray. Meeting minutes are online
"Involvement with Staff Council has given me the opportunity to broaden my perspective about the University in many ways, including meeting and interacting with leadership to talk about concerns that our constituents have that relate to our workplace," said Makray. "I have been involved in making change happen for benefits and policies that affect the people that we serve. In addition, because of my experience serving on Staff Council, I have a better understanding of the 'nuts and bolts’ and frustrations of running a large and public organization like the University of Colorado."
Melissa Ledezma also is a current active member of Staff Council. "I think it would be great to get other staff members to join because they have a lot to say. Everyone needs a voice and deserves to be heard," said Ledezma. "Being a representative on Staff Council makes that possible."
"If you want to make change happen, you have to be involved, it is as simple as that," said Makray. "The effort that you put into it is the experience that you will get out of it."
