Recognition for service to students in the military

Skiba and College of Nursing honored

AURORA, Colo. - The U.S. Army has sent a commendation and American flag to the College of Nursing's Diane J. Skiba, PhD, FAAN, FACMI; professor and project director, Colorado HITEC Project. The commendation thanks Skiba and College of Nursing faculty for their dedication and support of nursing students who are serving in the military.

Supporting this recognition is Rosalie Sakata, a master's student in the Health Care Informatics specialty, who is now stationed with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. 

"We are honored to receive this commendation," Skiba said. "It is our privilege to support our military in their pursuit of advanced education. Rosalie is an inspiration to us and her fellow classmates."

The citation accompanying the flag reads "On behalf of the U.S. Armed Forces serving our nation at Camp Bastion during Operation Enduring Freedom flag flown in honor of Diane Skiba, " -- signed by Richard Lindsay, LTC, U.S. Army.

Sharing the acknowledgement (photo left to right) are CON colleagues Nicole Jackson, coordinator, Health Care Informatics master's specialty option, project coordinator, iLEAD Program; Skiba; and Amy J.
