AURORA, Colo. - The timing of the university’s Giving Back Campaign coincides well with one particular community need during January and February.

These winter months traditionally can be difficult for hungry local families and residents. Through the Giving Back Campaign, seven colleagues teamed up at the School of Pharmacy and headed over to ‘lend a hand’ at the Food Bank of the Rockies on Jan. 13.

The Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR) relies on donations and volunteers to help provide food to those in need. Food also is distributed for the Totes of Hope program which provides food for the weekend to children who receive meals through a free lunch program at school.

“FBR is well organized for volunteers to come on a one-time or a regular basis,” said the School of Pharmacy’s Director of Budget and Finance Charlotte Klaus. “They especially need help in January and February and were most appreciative that we were ‘Giving Back’ our time to their organization. And, it was fun to volunteer with my colleagues!”

Klaus pointed out the convenience of volunteering at FBR which is located at Havana Street and Interstate 70 – a short 10-minute drive from the Anschutz Medical Campus.
