“Hearts of All Ages” races to great start

Kick-off event raises more than $200,000

AURORA, Colo. – One of the leading transplant centers in the United States will get a boost from the University of Colorado Hospital’s annual fundraiser, “Hearts of All Ages.”  The kick-off reception raised more than $200,000 in table and ticket sales, nearly double what was raised at the event last year.

The proceeds from the 2011 “Hearts of All Ages” event will go toward advancing the legacy of excellence of the University of Colorado Hospital’s Transplant Center.  The program is nationally recognized for its collaborative environment, advanced practices and patient outcomes that are better than the national average. In addition to national accolades, the center houses one of the most comprehensive care facilities with its ability to perform heart, liver, lung, kidney, bone marrow, cornea and tissue transplants.

“Hearts of All Ages,” is a family get-together that takes place on Valentine’s Day each year.  2011 marks the fourth consecutive year that UCH has celebrated with the community, giving families a chance to spend Valentine’s Day together while raising money for various programs at University of Colorado Hospital. “Hearts of All Ages” 2011 will not only raise money for the transplant program, it will also raise awareness of the increasing need for organ donations.

The event will once again be held at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. The goal in 2011 is to have 1,000 people at the event. Last year about 850 people attended.
