DENVER - Crazy costumes of all sorts appeared for Halloween festivities in St. Cajetan's on the Auraria Campus as the University of Colorado Denver Staff Council hosted its high-spirited annual costume contest and Halloween breakfast on Oct. 31.
About 80 participants were dressed as everything from Secret Service agents and football players to gypsies and Mutant Ninja Turtles. For their effort they were treated to breakfast, music, prize raffles and the costume contests -- all judged by audience applause.
The group costume contest brought out the most elaborate costumes and performances, including the Human Resources Department with its high-energy original touchdown-themed celebration dance and the College of Architecture & Planning with a staid, but very original, representation of classic artistic portraits.
Other entrants in the group costume category were the Secret Service & the President, a band of gypsies and the Ninja Turtles.
In the end, the College of Architecture & Planning barely edged out Human Resources for the win.
Winning the individual costumer categories were: Scariest: Rachel Fraser, School of Education & Human Development as Rainbow Fright
Most Original: Danny Felipe-Morales, Financial Aid Office as "Danny Delucci"
Cutest: Little Red Riding Hood who slipped out before we got her 'real' name!
On the Anschutz Medical Campus, halloween treats and a few minor tricks were offered in the Bookstore and cafe areas of Building 500.
