Graduate programs make their mark in latest school rankings

U.S. News & World Report ranks many School of Medicine programs in top 10

DENVER - Graduate programs at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus continue to garner recognition nationally with the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The School of Medicine and other health care programs remained in the top 10 in several categories, while the School of Education & Human Development moved up 19 places to 81st.

Here are the program rankings:

School of Medicine

  • Primary Care: No. 5
  • Medical specialties:
      • Family Medicine: No. 3
      • Rural Medicine: No. 8
      • Pediatrics: No. 5
  • Research: No. 35
  • Physician Assistant: No. 11 (prior year ranking)
  • Physical Therapy No. 34

College of Nursing (prior year ranking)

  • Nurse Practitioner Pediatrics program, No. 5
  • Nurse Midwifery program, No. 13
  • Nursing program, No. 15
  • Nurse Practitioner Family program, No. 16

Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences No. 24

School of Education: No. 81

School of Public Affairs: No. 29 (prior year ranking)

Business School  (prior ​year ranking)

  • Part-time MBA, No. 89
  • Health Administration and Executive Health Administration, No. 32

Department of Integrative Biology (Biological Sciences), No. 68 (prior year ranking)

“The schools and programs at the Anschutz Medical Campus continue to excel,” said Lilly Marks, vice president for health affairs for the University of Colorado and executive vice chancellor of the Anschutz Medical Campus. “It’s especially gratifying to see how well we do in an environment of tight resources. Beyond this survey of graduate programs, our physicians and hospitals also are highly regarded nationally. The latest rankings underscore the quality of work on this campus, which is a source of pride for all of us.”

"We are delighted that the School of Education & Human Development has shown progress in the national reputational rankings – almost 20 percent,” said Rebecca Kantor, the school’s dean. “Our faculty and leaders have worked hard, and the jump demonstrates that our local, state, national and global sphere of influence continues to grow as we continue our mission of impacting the educational outcomes of urban and diverse youth while supporting teachers, students, policymakers, researchers and education stakeholders.”

The U.S. News list includes essential, detailed statistical information on more than 1,200 graduate programs nationwide. Methodology varies by program. The magazine offers the rankings as a tool to students and parents who are comparing programs at accredited public and private universities in the U.S.
