Denver Campus recognizes student leaders

DENVER - Being a college student extends beyond the classroom for a number of students on the Denver Campus. These students juggle academic work, personal pursuits and involvement in a range of campus activities from student government to club hockey to mentoring.

The Office of Student Life hosts an annual Student Leadership Banquet, said Ed Garton, assistant director, Office of Student Life, "to recognize the great work that students do on our campus."

Students active in extra-curricular activities were welcomed in the Lawrence Street Center, Terrace Room by Khushnur Dadabhoy, director, Student Life.

Dean of Students Samantha Ortiz spoke to the group about "the importance of student leadership on our campus" and the impact their efforts have on the overall campus climate, on other students and on learning outside of the classroom.

"The event was fantastic!" said Garton. "We had about 100 or so students, faculty, staff -- even a dean or two, the Chancellor, the Provost, and some family members."
