Auraria Library staff glimpse government in action

Sen. Ulibarri hosts visitors at State Capitol

5/1/2014
Legislative session at the Colorado’s State Capitol

By Ellen Metter l Auraria Campus Library

DENVER - Current and past employees of the Auraria Library were treated to an insider's view of state law-making on April 28 during a visit to Colorado's State Capitol building hosted by Sen. Jessie Ulibarri, District 21, Adams County -- a CU-Boulder alum.

With only about ten days remaining in the 2014 legislative session and nearly 200 bills to consider, Sen. Ulibarri took time to meet with the group to answer a few questions about the life of a Colorado lawmaker.

Auraria Library guests toured the historic Capitol building, participated in a mock committee hearing, and visited the floor of the Senate chambers to observe the Senate in action.

Because the Auraria Library has received generous support from Colorado's legislators, the visitors were happy for a chance to express their thanks in person.
