Black Student Services

Jamaa II (Second Family)

Mission/Purpose of the Program

The Black Student Services Program offers a uniquely-designed network of support services to assist students in all phases of their educational career at CU Denver. Since its inception in 1969, Black Student Services has helped hundreds of students with admission into undergraduate and graduate programs, academic counseling, and peer support services. Because we believe that students should have a strong supportive environment during their education, we subscribe to the concept of Jamaa II: “a second family away from home.”
