Continuous Improvement through Assessment

As an important part of the university’s accreditation and continuous improvement process, each program is required to submit an annual assessment “results report” to the assessment committee at the end of the academic year describing its assessment results for that year as well as its plans for program modifications in the next academic year. Programs that are new to the process or have not submitted a recent report are required to also submit a planning report early in the academic year.

While programs may use the guides provided by the assessment committee, they may also use a different format that better serves their purposes (e.g., professional accreditation) as long as the program “results report” describes modifications based on direct assessments of student learning. The content for the reports can vary as well. For example, some programs report multiple assessment results for all of their learning outcomes, while other programs focus in depth on assessment results for a small number of learning outcomes.

Guides for preparing the annual assessment reports, along with examples  of planning and results reports can be found to the right.
