How to insert a link
Linking to internal content is one way of improving the visitor experience. Basically, you can link to internal content that is stored in objects. Objects include images, documents or other Web pages. Begin by navigating to the page where you want to insert the link.
- From the Page tab in the Ribbon, select “Edit” from the Edit group.
- Choose the location on the page by clicking to place the cursor. Either select the text by dragging the cursor or enter the text to be linked.
- With the selected text highlighted, notice that the Editing Tools is activated in the ribbon toolbar. Select Insert

- From the Link group, select either:
From SharePoint—browse to an existing website page
From Address—linking to external URL address (copy from another browser window)
- If “From SharePoint” is chosen, the asset picker will open. Navigate to the file location for the source content. The source content could be an image, document (PDF) or page.
NOTE: Source content (PDF files) should be uploaded to the appropriate folder before the linking process is initiated.

- Select “OK” to complete the link process.
- If “From Address” is chosen, the insert hyperlink menu will be displayed
- The text highlighted in step three will be listed in the “Text to display” option. Simply type the URL address or cut and paste the URL address from the open browser address bar.
- This method could be used to link to an e-mail address. If so, be sure and use mailto: followed by the e-mail address. Notice there are no spaces.

- Select “OK” to complete the link process.
As discussed previously, before you can access the item, it needs to be uploaded and checked-in. So hopefully, the document or image has already been uploaded in the appropriate file location and is available to the SharePoint system. If not, please cancel and upload the item to the correct folder—either documents or images, at the correct site hierarchy
