The Anschutz Medical Campus is home to the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, University of Colorado Hospital, and Children's Hospital Colorado. The co-location of these three prestigious partner institutions has given rise to an exemplary Academic Health Center and produced a thriving economic engine for the state of Colorado.
The 230-acre Academic Health Center began to emerge from the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Garrison in 1998 with its first Master Plan. This plan envisioned a unique unified environment for the 21st Century that would enable excellence in education, research and clinical care.
In 2012, over 16,000 people are employed at CU and the hospitals, and more than 4,000 students are enrolled within the University's six health sciences schools and colleges. As a result, current campus population is over 20,000 people, not including patients and visitors. The 2012 Facilities Master Plan reflects the combined vision of the organizations that support this population, and the plan charts an improved course for the future that will enable the partner institutions to provide the highest quality health sciences education and health care services to the region, state and nation in the years to come.
The Office of Institutional Planning is excited to share the Anschutz Medical Campus 2012 Facilities Master Plan with campus, site-wide, and neighboring communities.
